Producing The MNL Show: Creating a Space for Canada’s Most Important Conversations

When Magnet Network Live approached Archipelago ahead of filming their new interview series, The MNL Show, the goal was clear: create a production that felt elevated, thoughtful, and worthy of the conversations it aimed to host. Hosted by Emily Madden, The MNL Show creates space for leaders to slow down and explore the complex forces reshaping Canada’s economy and workforce.

Formatted previously as in-person panels and audio only podcasts, Magnet leaned on Archipelago to help develop a sophisticated visual approach and strategy for output on multiple platforms. From a production perspective, Archipelago worked closely with the Magnet team to design a visual language that matched the ambition of the project. Guests including Canadian media legend George Stroumboulopoulos and former Minister of Finance Bill Morneau joined Madden for wide-ranging conversations about leadership, innovation, and Canada’s evolving economic landscape.

Across two production blocks, our team filmed eight full episodes and eight companion minisodes, moving between our studio in the West End and on location in Toronto’s iconic Distillery District. Archipelago managed all aspects of production, from crew and equipment to post-production, completing every edit in-house. In total, the project delivered more than 150 pieces of content across episodes, minisodes, trailers and digital deliverables.

For Archipelago, projects like The MNL Show are about more than production. They’re about partnership. By collaborating closely during pre-production, executing seamlessly during filming, and refining every detail in post, our team helped bring a national conversation platform to life, one that highlights Canada and some of the brightest minds shaping its future.
